Hooker Ranch is an open admission equine shelter. We will never turn a horse/equine away no matter its health, behavior, or medical problems.
Circumstances change and sometimes an owner can no longer keep their equine. There are not many options and owners might worry about their equine finding a good home.
We can help.
Only THREE things are required if you choose to surrender your horse (or other equine) to Hooker Ranch.
1.) A fee of $325, or an in-kind donation. These fees will help cover costs of intake care for the surrendered equine. The surrender fee is addressed on a case-by-case basis.
2.) A current Coggins Test to show negative presence of Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA). This is a serious and often fatal blood born disease spread via blood feeding flies. Hooker Ranch WILL NOT allow any equine on the property without a negative test result. We will do our utmost to help with completion of a Coggins Test.
3.) Print out and complete the surrender form below. If you are unable to print the form, please reach out to us for assistance. Once completed email the form to ken.smith@hookerranch.org.
Please reach out to us if you have ANY questions. Our goal is to give your horse/equine a new lease on life. We are not here to judge and will help in any way we can.
Quickest ways to reach us are phone, email, or Facebook chat.
